Migraine Headache
At age 14 I began suffering from migraine headaches.
My mother, aunt and her daughters all suffered from these headaches as teenagers. My mother is a pediatric nurse and arranged for me to be treated at a well-respected pain clinic. I took number of tests including hormone and allergy with hope of discovering the cause. I was then treated with strong pain medicines one. After nearly a year of treatment I got no relief from the pain and experienced a number of side effects from the medication.
My father had been successfully treated for back pain with acupuncture and suggested that I give it a try. I was a little nervous about the needle thing so we met with Carol first to discuss what would happen. After the meeting I decided to give acupuncture a try. After the first treatment my pain went from an 8 to a 4. The treatments were relaxing and I actually looked forward to them. The pain relief improved after each treatment. After six treatments I seldom have headaches. When I do have a headache it is at a pain level of 2-3 and usually last for less then an hour.
